Package: apt-show-versions
Version: 0.17
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/share/man/man1/apt-show-versions.1p.gz

At
This is really useful if you have a mixed stable/testing environment
and want to list all packages which are from testing and can be
       upgraded in testing.
Add
Note apt-show-versions will not e.g., tell you about a newer version of
a package available in testing, if you have the stable version of
       installed.
Wait
... unless you change APT::Default-Release in /etc/apt/* (no way
to change it on the apt-show-versions command line. No -o
       option.)
So
OK, apparently apt-show-versions is in fact totally dependent on
       APT::Default-Release... or whatever invisible defaults...

Nor is there a -t testing etc. One must hack /etc/apt/* files to see
what other apt commands would show us with just a -t.
