gbnclient/gbnclient.desktop and gbnserver/gbnserver.desktop are iso-8859-? encoded, but for i18n they must be encoded in UTF-8. Furthermore the desktop file lacks the Categories field. It should be something like "Categories=GNOME;Game;StrategyGame;". See [1] for details. The Exec field should contain the absolute path to the binary to avoid messing with users' PATH environment variable. It should be "Exec=/usr/games/gbnclient" and analogous for the server desktop file. I'd suggest to copy and fix the desktop files shipped by upstream into the debian/ directory and maintain and install those instead.
