Does this not work?
a) I was confused by misreading a conversation on debian-x a few days ago. Please forgive me. b) Trying to improve my understanding of my other problem, I now installed xserver-xorg-dbg again and attached GDB to a running X server. It caught the SEGV, but was not able to produce any intelligible output on 'bt full'. According to the error messages, gdb 'Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.' But perhaps I'm just dense, it's past midnight over here. Otherwise this probably should be cloned into a separate bug?
