This time I tried to open the roster before left clicking on the systray icon,
by right clicking on the icon and then selecting "Show contact list". But as I
didn't try the other times, maybe I would have the same problem.

it's fixed upstream, will be in next release.

For the future please don't use the same report for different bugs.
And personnaly (as upstream author) I prefer users to report Gajim bugs in Gajim bug tracker, and debian-package related bugs in debian bugtracker, it's just my personal preference ...
