Hi, I'm using ibus. And I also got this problem. After I install ibus-gtk3 (The IMMODULE for gtk3) it becomes normal.
For SCIM users I think we might need to write a new gtk3 IMMODULE for scim.
The easist way to test this bug is
unset XMODIFIERS; gnome-terminal
And then gnome-terminal should run good.
So this bug is "immodules"/"input method engine" matter, not
gnome-terminal itself.
