Hi! I'm the maintainer of bridge-utils and I find that this patch would indeed solve the problem of adding hotplug interfaces to a bridge.
I'm wondering if there are any plans to add this to ifupdown in the future or if this patch or feature is not well seen by current ifupdown maintainers.
