As I upgraded bluez it stopped working with 2.6.39-1. There must be something tickling the bug between versions. Maybe the newer version of bluez works with 2.6.38.2, but not 2.6.39-1, or maybe it works on an AMD64 based computer (as Nobuhiro reported), but not on an IA32 machine. I wonder if there is some sort of facility that enables us to log requests and responses to and from the usb device, so we can compare operations across systems.
