I have a new working version of maradns that installs a file
/etc/insserv.conf.d/maradns-insserv

That file looks like:

$named +maradns

After upgrading to this version of maradns, the /etc/init.d/maradns was
pointed to by /etc/rc2.d/S02maradns.

As an experiment I then installed openvpn. The link was then shifted to
/etc/rc2.d/S02maradns whilst openvpn was at S03.

When I purged the openvpn package, maradns went back to S02.

Based upon this I have some confidence that the new maradns will be
cooperating sufficiently with other components to close this bug.
