I have checked all the settings again and apparently I messed up one setting. The source's "Source" -> "Remote method" was set to "Regexp" for no particular reason. I have set it to "Simple" and the "Waiting for capture daemon" message went away suddenly. I even get proper "mocord"-ing now. (Can somebody shoo away my cat? Its playing in the yard is filling up my disk.) I can reproduce that the problem returns as soon as I set it to "Regexp". I must admit that I'm not sure this is really the cause. After all I wiped the entire data and configuration file several times and started from scratch.
