As the documentation already says.

a debian package, it is to be installed (it works) only on Debian
guests. Then why is it about "non-X11 guest utilities", since the
Debian guest is a X11 system? On Debian guest, only
virtualbox-ose-guest-x11 should exist.

Please read the docs before asking the developers. There are guest tools for
usage with X11 like a video driver and those that can be used even without X
like the shared folders.

Now I understand. In the context of various OSes, I wrongly assumed that X11 means linux, and non-X11 means the others (Win, OSX).

Hope others do not make the same confusion like me.

I would propose to change the long description like this:

- for ...-utils: This package provides the non-X11 (i.e. text-only) guest utilities... - for ...-x11: At the end of the long description, add: For text-only guest utilities, see virtualbox-ose-guest-utils.
