It fixes a lot of bugs and, as written in the release notes. http://www.netlib.org/pvm3/RELEASE_NOTES.txt Hopefully some of the currently 4 open bugs will be fixed by this upstream version, specially regarding security issues. Please package it for unstable/sid. Version 3.4.5 was released September 8 2004 and has accumulated a lot of Debian patches since then.
