Oh, I see now. I doubt your definition of other systems as 'sane' just
because they kept tracking the older RFC is accurate. In any case,
it seems to me that anyone who's still stuck in a 2005 kernel and glibc
yet runs network services like FR - seriously needs to get their head
examined :)
