The d-i magic that detects your architecture is isolinux, which has probably been avoided by whatever magic unetbootin does (how exactly it works has never been clear to me). Happily, there is no need to use unetbootin now, as all Debian ISOs can be written directly to USB sticks. -- see shy jo
