Package: util-linux Version: 2.17.2-9.1 Severity: wishlist with recent versions of mount, it is possible to directly mount an encrypted block device; mount then asks for a password (i suppose mount consults /etc/crypttab for this).
currently, if i try to fsck an encrypted block device, i get: fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2 fsck: fsck.crypto_LUKS: not found fsck: Error 2 while executing fsck.crypto_LUKS for /dev/mapper/vg0-home--shared i think that it would be nice if fsck could do the same thing as mount, that is, cryptsetup luksOpen the device, check the decrypted device, and luksClose it again. (probably there is also some checking for already existing opendings required, but that should already be in mount as well.) -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.37-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages util-linux depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.38 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.16.0.2 Debian package management system ii initscripts 2.88dsf-13.2 scripts for initializing and shutt ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-6 Manage installed documentation in ii libblkid1 2.17.2-9.1 block device id library ii libc6 2.11.2-13 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libncurses5 5.9-1 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libselinux1 2.0.98-1 SELinux runtime shared libraries ii libslang2 2.2.4-1 S-Lang programming library - runti ii libuuid1 2.17.2-9.1 Universally Unique ID library ii lsb-base 3.2-27 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii tzdata 2011f-1 time zone and daylight-saving time ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime util-linux recommends no packages.
