Package: impressive Version: 0.10.3~WIP+svn31-1 Severity: normal Hi! Thanks for maintaining impressive in Debian.
I think I found a new bug. Whenever I start impressive, a line like the following appears in my /var/log/messages and in my /var/log/kern.log: Apr 23 17:10:00 <hostname> kernel: [ 4212.469150] sr0: CDROM not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive. It seems that impressive tries to access /dev/sr0 and, since there's no disc in the optical unit, an error is reported by the kernel. On my system: $ ls -altrF /dev/ | grep sr0 brw-rw----+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 Apr 23 15:59 sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 scd0 -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 dvdrw1 -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 dvdrw -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 dvd1 -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 dvd -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 cdrw1 -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 cdrw -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 cdrom1 -> sr0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 23 15:59 cdrom -> sr0 I cannot understand why impressive should need to access the CD/DVD drive. Hence, I think this behavior is due to a bug, either in impressive proper, or in one of the libraries it uses. If this is indeed the case, then please forward this bug report to upstream, as appropriate.
