These fairly rare symptoms occur for EDT mode which is invoked using ;-------------------- ; edt emulation invoked automatically at start ;-------------------- (add-hook 'term-setup-hook 'edt-emulation-on) in the .emacs file. edt-find-next is bound to <kp-f3> and finds the next occurrence of the string specified by the previous edt-find command. The issue is that on rare occasions, it fails to find the specified string and you have to reenter that exact same string again using the edt-find command. The issue is intermittent and therefore difficult to reproduce in a reliable way but annoying nevertheless so I thought I should report it. Because it is so intermittent I suspect there is some underlying low-level emacs memory management problem that is the source of the issue.
