Package: dhcp3-client Version: 4.1.1-P1-15+squeeze2 Severity: normal I have the following line in my /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf send host-name "<hostname>"; This results in sending the hostname as '<hostname>'.
If I change the config to something like send host-name "xyz"; then no hostname is sent (or maybe an empty one). Both configurations worked as expected in Lenny. I do *not* see a hostname '(none)' as the original poster reported. I tested in Wheezy and get the same problem with isc-dhcp-client 4.1.1-P1-16 -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages dhcp3-client depends on: ii isc-dhcp-client 4.1.1-P1-15+squeeze2 ISC DHCP client dhcp3-client recommends no packages. dhcp3-client suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
