Please, note that this information is from the 31st of march 2011, I attempted to send it several times but it was always ignored:
I just installed kernel 2.6.38-2-686-bigmem and now again it crashes all the time. The results of lsmod for both 2.6.38-1 [4] (which crashed only once) and 2.6.38-2 [5] (which crashes every time) seem different. So far different kernels different behavior: 2.6.32 No crash 2.6.37 Always crashes 2.6.38-1 No crash (crashed once) 2.6.38-2 Always crashes Also, I noticed that, when it crashes, in gnome's Monitor Preferences I have two monitors but no external monitor is actually connected to the laptop [1]. The second monitor is set as off, if I set it as on the size is 848x480 [2]. Making the screenshot I get a desktop image of 2214x768 although the lcd panel of this laptop is 1366x768 [3]. I'm not really sure this is a gnome, xorg or kernel bug, please reassign it if you think it's not a a gnome issue. Thank you and have a nice day, Paolo.
