Package: dbus-1
Version: 0.23.4-6
Severity: important

The dbus-1 package contains this library:

/usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.0
/usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.0.0.0

In the upstream version, 0.35.2, the library version has been
incremented:

/usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.1.0.0

If you were to import the new upstream source into the existing debian
packaging, this could cause problems. Applications, like vlc, depend
on dbus-1 to provide libdbus-1.so.0. When the new version is imported,
it will instead provide libdbus-1.so.1. So, vlc will install, but it
won't run. Even if libdbus-1.so.1.0. is moved into a seperate
libdbus-1-0 package, something needs to be done about the old packages
that think dbus-1 will be providing them libdbus-1.so.0.

I believe this is broken in sarge, etch, and sid.
