I've never seen this myself, so some more information would be useful. It may help to run OA with these command-line options: they'll make it harder to play, but probably easier to debug: openarena +set in_nograb 1 +set r_fullscreen 0 (If you like fullscreen, you can get your old settings back by running with +set r_fullscreen 1 afterwards.) Can you still reproduce this in the version of OA from squeeze? If so, is it still reproducible in the version from testing or unstable, if you can install that? (For those versions you'll need to install the updated engine, ioquake3, as well.) In any of those versions, if you run openarena from a terminal emulator (xterm or whatever), do you get any output?
