It does not happen on "rare occasions" here. I've repaired corrupted mailboxes about four times in the past two months, and on a mail server with not a huge volume of incoming mail (30 msgs/hour) and half a dozen users carrying out IMAP activity.

I've now switched to Dovecot and am quite happy with it. I was not aware that uw-imapd was so deprecated. :-)

Ok.  I am Convinced!

...there's obviously also the approach of actually reading the full bugreport (as I did only after replying to your earlier post) and try follow one of the solutions proposed by Mike Young.
