Looks like you don't have /etc/mtab pointing to /proc/mounts?
Correct. Fixed that, does not fix my non-starting network though.
Upgrading to 17-1 does not help either.
Any luck reproducing that issue? The system was installed somewhere
around December (so way before the Squeeze release) and upgraded to
Squeeze final, and we have already found two things that don't match
(the /etc/mtab and /etc/network/run link) with a new Sqeeze install.
Should I reinstall?
