Package: sphinxsearch Version: 0.9.9-6 Severity: normal When starting the sphinxsearch daemon (searchd) through invoke-rc.d or directly /etc/init.d/sphinxsearch I get ERROR printed to the terminal. The daemon starts correctly and binds to the correct port.
It appears to be a timing issue where it checks the pid file after running the start-stop-daemon and it's still empty at that point, leading to the running_pid function returning an error. Once the script completes the pid file has the correct pid of the server and the checks in the script will complete successfully. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages sphinxsearch depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libexpat1 2.0.1-7 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8 GCC support library ii libmysqlclient16 5.1.49-3 MySQL database client library ii libpq5 8.4.5-0squeeze2 PostgreSQL C client library ii libstdc++6 4.4.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime sphinxsearch recommends no packages. sphinxsearch suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/sphinxsearch changed [not included] /etc/sphinxsearch/sphinx.conf changed [not included] -- no debconf information -- Zac Slade krakr...@gmail.com
