imvirt is to be used on (large scale) setups with (Debian) hosts running on virtual and physical machines. With apt-dater + imvirt you are able to filter the hosts by virtualization containers and do special actions on them. Other software might use it to behave different depending on the container.

There are also some metaphysic aspects as in Stanislaw Lem's short story Professor Corcorana’s Boxes, The Matrix and others - it tells you if you should get a red pill ;-)
