Package: sendmail
Version: 8.14.3-5+lenny1
Severity: wishlist

Hi Richard,

today I was playing around with GreetPause and was wondering, why my
sendmail didn't respond under 5 seconds even if GreetPause was disabled
completely. The reason for this strange behavior is the by default
activated ident lookup. I was sitting behind a firewall, which blocked
sendmail's ident lookups. In those cases sendmails wait for the 5
seconds time out (Timeout.ident=5). What about to disable ident lookup
in sendmail.mc

 define(`confTO_IDENT', `0')dnl

and get rid of this 5 second lag?

Have a nice weekend,
Marcus
