As Wesley J. Landaker says above, this is NOT a bug.It would conceivably be possibly to relax a few restrictions to allow this to work in additional - but not all - cases.
Anyway, either this bug should be closed, or it needs to be taken upstream, because fixing it would be more complex than would be reasonable to do in a distro-local patch.
