I agree with this, it's not a "DSA-worthy" issue. However, I still would strongly prefer to see a fix in squeeze before the release - salts are considered to be a very useful security measure, there's still time before the release and that means we can put out a stable release that does it correctly. Do you think it's possible to provide an upload for testing-proposed-updates with just this fix? Cheers, Thijs
