Package: gparted
Version: 0.7.0-1
Severity: normal

> Are you sure that you can simply "cat </dev/random >/dev/sdg" on your

Huh? Of course, I"m sure.

% l /dev/sdd
brw-rw---- 1 root floppy 8, 48 21 jan 13:29 /dev/sdd
% id
uid=<NN>(monnier) gid=<NN>(monnier) groupes=..,<NN>(floppy),...
%

In the mean time, the symptom has changed slightly: now if I try to run
"gparted /dev/sdd" I'm told "Inhibit all polling failed: Only uid 0 is
authorized to inhibit the daemon". Yet "udisks --inhibit-polling /dev/sdd"
seems to work OK, and even if it fails, it's no reason to deny me access to
gparted.
Then via `strace' I figured that I can run gpartedbin to circumvent the udisks
polling problem, at which point I see that rather than a mere "you must be
root", gparted now wastes his time giving me a big dialog box (saying the same
thing as before, tho with more words) to which I can only say "OK" which means
"accept defeat".
Please, please, pretty please, fix gparted so that it doesn't restrict access
more than `cat' does.
