What's the content of /etc/network/interfaces? Is this how it was created by the installer?
Please paste the output of nm-tool. Please stop the running network-manager (/etc/init.d/network-manager stop) and run it manually (as root) NetworkManager --no-daemon and attach the output. Do you maybe start wpa_supplicant via /etc/network/interfaces (ifupdown) and you have two wpa_supplicant instances fighting against each other? Why do you think there is a bug in network-manager?
