I reported this issue upstream a couple of weeks ago and I've just sent
a patch which I'm attaching here.
I'm raising this as serious despite the fact that u-boot is a new
package in Debian because this provides the build of mkimage which is a
dependency of other packages in the archive (it used to be provided by
uboot-mkimage which is pending removal).
