Ah ok. But do people really expect to be able to reuse a
filesystem/PV if they flush their partition table?

Yeah sure. See attached files (the "_-X" says which option I used
for generating the according file, pvscan.txt provides the default
output if being executed without any options).

JFTR: I used the following configuration file for setup-storage:

disk_config disk1 bootable:1 fstabkey:uuid
primary /boot       2000      ext3    rw
logical -           0-        -       -

disk_config lvm
vg      FAIBASE        disk1.5
FAIBASE-rootfs  /  5200  ext3  rw
