Package: gdm Version: 2.6.0.8-1 Severity: normal I'm not sure if this is a problem with gdm or Xorg, but everything else works some I'm filing against gdm. Whenever a user logs out, or X is restarted with ctrl-alt-backspace, gdm fails to recover and launch a new greeter; upon logout, the display is left as the root window (with a movable mouse cursor). If X is killed via ctrl-alt-backspace, the system drops down to a virtual terminal and X doesn't restart. Restarting gdm manually (via /etc/init.d/gdm restart) eventually results in the X-style crosshatch root window with the mouse cursor and nothing else.
