This bug also crops up when upgrading from v5 to v6 on lenny->squeeze dist upgrade. In particular, it forgot my db password and I had to reset.
Saying that files called "*.conf" under the /etc/ tree are not conffiles is disingenuous. If they contain user-editable settings they should not be overwritten on upgrades.
