It's just a two-liner that loads a background image:
#!/bin/sh
xsetbg -onroot -fullscreen
/usr/share/images/freshwater-dragonfly-huge.jpg
Also, if you move it out of the way, does that get xdm working again?
I'll give it a try, but I can't see how that would affect anything...
I'll also try a purge and install.
