I think your patch looks correct, so I will upload a new version that
includes this patch.  Unfortunately, it will not make it into squeeze,
but at least it will be in wheezy (squeeze successor) and in unstable.
I'm not sure psutils is still alive upstream, so this may end up being
debian-specific, but I'll try to forward it to the upstream author
anyway.  Thanks for the patch.
