Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0.4-2sarge2
Severity: normal

In 1.0.4-2sarge1 (and every other Firefox build I've used), it's
possible to open a new tab (or window) with the middle mouse button,
or with ctrl-click, on a link.

In 1.0.4-2sarge2 neither of these features work any longer; clicking
with the middle button or ctrl-click is simply ignored.

Starting with a new set of firefox configuration (stop browser;
mv .mozilla/firefix .mozilla/firefox.new; start browser) makes
no difference; the functionality is still broken in 1.0.4-2sarge2
with the fresh config.

Changing:

user_pref("middlemouse.contentLoadURL", false);

makes no difference either (controls whether hitting the middle button
slightly off a link causes going to some random URL you selected hours ago).

Right-click "Open in a new tab" does work (opens new tab with link
content), as does "New Tab" (opens new blank tab), so the tabbing
fuctionality works. It's only the mouse bindings which are broken.

This appears to be a fairly significant regression introduced with
1.0.4-2sarge2; for me at least it completely breaks my normal way of
using a web browser in what should have been a minor security update.

I see #318667 reported a similar issue with 1.0.4-2sarge1, which was
resolved with "works for me", although in their case it seems the middle
mouse button worked and the others didn't which seems odd. In my case
it appears to be the mouse keybindings which are broken.

I don't obviously see any config features to reenable this feature (but
even if there is, I don't think the behaviour should be changed by a
minor security update).

For now I am reverting to 1.0.4-2sarge1, as 1.0.4-2sarge2 is too painful
to use like this.
