Package: gnome-media Version: 2.8.0-0.4 Severity: wishlist File: /usr/bin/gnome-volume-control
The gnome-volume-control window has a left and a right volume control for each channel. I would prefer if there was one volume slider and one balance slider per channel. The rationale for this is: My speakers are placed assymetrically relative to my computer. Thus, I want more sound out of my left one than out of my right one. This can be done both with the current sliders and after my suggested change. However, sometimes I want to change the volume. With the current system, that forces me to mess with two sliders (left and right). After my suggested change, changing the volume could be done with just one slider. IMO having two sliders (left and right) for changing one value (the sound volume) isn't optimal. There's a workaround for the common case (volume in the middle) where the two sliders can be locked to each other. My suggested change would solve the problem for everybody, not just for people who want the balance in the middle. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-1-686 Locale: LANG=sv_SE, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages gnome-media depends on: ii gstreamer0.8-alsa [gstre 0.8.8-3 ALSA plugin for GStreamer ii gstreamer0.8-esd [gstrea 0.8.8-3 Enlightened Sound Daemon plugin fo ii gstreamer0.8-misc 0.8.8-3 Collection of various GStreamer pl ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.10.1-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudiofile0 0.2.6-6 Open-source version of SGI's audio ii libbonobo2-0 2.10.0-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-0 2.8.1-2 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libesd-alsa0 [libesd0] 0.2.36-1 Enlightened Sound Daemon (ALSA) - ii libgail-common 1.8.4-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgail17 1.8.4-1 GNOME Accessibility Implementation ii libgconf2-4 2.10.1-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt11 1.2.1-4 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglade2-0 1:2.5.1-2 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.5-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-keyring0 0.4.3-1 GNOME keyring services library ii libgnome2-0 2.8.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.10.2-2 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgnomeui-0 2.8.1-3 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 2.8.4-4 The GNOME virtual file-system libr ii libgnutls11 1.0.16-13.1 GNU TLS library - runtime library ii libgpg-error0 1.1-4 library for common error values an ii libgstreamer-gconf0.8-0 0.8.8-3 GConf support for GStreamer ii libgstreamer-plugins0.8- 0.8.8-3 Various GStreamer libraries and li ii libgstreamer0.8-0 0.8.10-1 Core GStreamer libraries, plugins, ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.8-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii liborbit2 1:2.12.2-3 libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpango1.0-0 1.8.2-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpopt0 1.7-5 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System Session Management ii libtasn1-2 0.2.13-1 Manage ASN.1 structures (runtime) ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System protocol client li ii libxml2 2.6.20-1 GNOME XML library ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime gnome-media recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
