Package: passwd Version: 1:4.1.4.2-1 Severity: important
Hi, I've added a new group and I've set a password: $ su # addgroup public_group ... # gpasswd public_group Changing the password for group public_group New Password: Re-enter new password: But when I use newgrp the login always fails: $ newgrp public_group Password: Invalid password. I've tried many times to repeat everything, also changing the password or the name of the group, but newgrp always returns "Invalid password". "public_group" is both in /etc/group and in /etc/gshadows, the password field of /etc/group is 'x' and the password field of /etc/gshadows is not empty and doesn't contain '*' or '!'.
