Here are some fixes especially for the faulty text label plugin. The maintainer simply forgot to write --attach-to-session to the plymouthd start (Patch 1: patch-plymouth see attachement)
To have a nice "Restarting..." and "Shutting down..." message I edited /etc/init.d/plymouth and simply ask for the runlevel in the stop function to display the right message. (Patch 2: plymouth-reboot-shutdown-msg) Hope you enjoy this and that it'll work as good as on my machine :)
