I mostly use mutt by having INBOX open over IMAPS, messages 'l'imited to "~N" (all fiting on one screen usually, with dozens of "O" and unmarked messages also presen in INBOX by filtered out by that ~N) and periodically using '$' to check for new messages. It worked great in Lenny, but in Squeeze, '$' often says "Mailbox is unchanged" for prolonged periods of time, and I get suspicious and 'l'imit again to "~N" -- and a bunch of new messages are shown (which '$' somehow missed). However, it is not *always* the case, it seems that '$' *does* find new messages sometimes (mostly only when I try to send mysql some test messages to make a better bug report, grrr. And then few minutes later again some new messages that have arrived are not shown when '$' is pressed) I have following (among macros and aliases and other seemingly uninteresting stuff) in ~/.muttrc : set spoolfile=imaps://[email protected]/INBOX set folder=imaps://[email protected]/ set move=no set header_cache=~/.mutt_header_cache/ set imap_idle=yes set imap_list_subscribed=yes set imap_check_subscribed=yes set timeout=15 set mark_old=no It never displayed that behaviour when I've been running Lenny, and now I'm getting it dozen times a day at least.
