I have a good, old, trusted tangogps set up, with a big POI database and a vast amount of predownloaded map. I installed foxtrotgps and a few days later, when I start tangogps, I get no POIs and I see it's redownloading all the maps. Panic. Upon investigation I noticed that now "tangogps" is starting foxtrotgps, which is not reusing tangogps's configuration and is back from square one with an empty poi.db on ~/.foxtrotgps and the usual (in my opinion absurd) default map location of ~/Maps. No problem, once I found out the reason it was easy to symlink poi.db and change the map configuration, so now all works again and nothing is lost. If foxtrotgps is setting itself up as an alternative to tangogps, however, it might make sense to either reuse tangogps' configuration or issue a warning at startup if ~/.foxtrotgps does not exists.
