found 259671 1:0.11.13-2 thanks gtkterm fails to build with libvte-dev 1:0.11.13-4. I checked the other .la files that were installed and none of them referenced libSM. I also ran ldd on all of the libraries that were installed, and only libvte referenced libSM.
I wasn't able to find the debian-devel message you referenced, so I apologize if I still misunderstand, but I don't know what else could be causing this problem. -- Matt
