On lenny I had a working s2ram / s2both with parameters "--force
--acpi_sleep 1 --vbe_mode" (2.6.26-*-openvz kernel in lenny).
This is an "unknown" desktop PC:

This machine can be identified by:

After upgrading to squueze/sid neither the hibernate (s2disk) nor the suspend
(s2ram) function works, i.e. after s2disk the power returned and the system
was rebooted (successfully). I have found the solution for s2disk:
the value of "shutdown_method" in uswsusp.conf should be changed from
"platform" to "shutdown".
However, s2ram still switches the power back: the power led goes off for
a moment but then the system resumes, i.e. the suspend process does not
complete.
As I noticed the version of uswsusp was 0.7-???, so I have tried to upgrade
it by downloading manually the latest available version from the pool:
0.8-1.2+b1.
However, there was not any advance in solving the problem.
