AFAIK, evince is based on the same source, some that's not surprising
that the situation is similar (with some differences because the
context is different).

But I'd say that there is a bug in the algorithm: rounding errors
should be taken into account when rendering at low mag (and even
at high mag BTW, though it's less probable that they have a visible
effect). If there's a performance issue, this could be controlled
by an option.
