Hi libgpod maintainer, libgpod upstream releases 0.7.93, it has been improved from the version in sid, (at least supports iPod touch 64GB model I have :) And ubuntu folks have already packaged it. Please consider to merge to sid to make Squeeze release better. Here's my local package's changelog, I hope it'll help you to update it.
