If it can't be fixed then maybe it would be a good idea to mention this
in the man-page. Currently the man-page states in its description of the
TERM variable that it assumes a default of 'unknown' - but not that this
very default will make nvi abort.
BTW, "vim -s" complains about a terminal type of 'unknown', too, but
then simply defaults to 'ansi' and goes on (which is exactly what I
want, since I am using it in batch mode). Maybe this could be an option
for nvi as well.
