There is a convenient command line method to test this mechanism:
$ RES_OPTIONS=inet6 execute_me [options]
This is easier than putting "options inet6" in /etc/resolv.conf.
Either of these would provoke gethostbyname(3) into returning IPv6.
See resolver(5).
As I originally stated, I am not in possession of a suitable
testing environment for pptp-linux, so the optimal thing would
be if both of you could test the patch before doing an official
package update!
