THis seems like this bug

in python-gobject 2.21.1-1, fixed in 2.21.1-2.
What version of python-gobject do you have installed?
FWIW, the new python-gobject does not pull in python-gi and python-gnomeapplet
which is now needed, so just unstall those and you should be ok.
I'll prepare a new upload to fix that.
