As you're mentioning an "installer" above, I'll have to ask you first and foremost: which backend are you using? Is it one of the backends shipped in libsane, or is it Samsung's proprietary backend? If the latter, I can't and won't help you get it working. I'll also direct you to switch to the xerox_mfp backend shipped in libsane.
