Please rerun the module-assistant build with increased verboseness
(after cleaning):
m-a -t clean nvidia
export KBUILD_VERBOSE=1
# your m-a command here
and add the logfile, too. So I can see the full command lines executed.
Also give the version numbers of all linux-* packages, e.g. the output of
dpkg -l | grep linux-
